Congratulations! You’ve landed on the starting point. The Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare, is very complex and whether you hate it or not, it is the law of the United States. This legislation impacts anywhere from one fourth to one third of the US economy. It impacts every employer, and the health plans of 98% of Americans will eventually change to comply with the legislation.
Many important pieces of legislation go into effect on January 1, 2014. This includes the ability for every citizen to enroll, beginning on October 1st, 2013, for health insurance coverage that goes in effect beginning January 1st. Citizens will be able to apply through a federal/state or private exchange, and also to apply for a subsidy to reduce the cost of health insurance.
